Marcelo Pereira was appointed as Chief Operating Officer with effect from 1 June 2025. With more than 26 years of experience in the mining and metallurgy sector, Marcelo joined AngloGold Ashanti in 2023 as Senior Vice President Latin America. His strong management experience includes large underground and open-pit operations in Brazil, USA, Canada, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Australia and Egypt, with a wide range of commodities including gold, copper, iron ore, zinc, lead, tin, niobium, tantalum and phosphate. Prior to joining the group, he held various roles at companies including Vale, Kinross, Nexa, Taboca, and Itafós.
