Case studies

Two areas in which significant progress was made during 2006 are presented as case studies within this section:

• the promotion of voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) in South Africa and the economic cost of AIDS. (See case study: VCT, key to success of HIV/AIDS programme); and
• the implementation of an integrated malaria campaign at Obuasi in Ghana. (See case study: Campaign at Obuasi halves malaria incidence).
