AngloGold Ashanti has a responsibility to report its annual financial statements to its shareholders in line with legislation and regulations related to the listing requirements of the various stock exchanges on which the company is listed. At the same time though we acknowledge that, as the company conducts its business, so it has an impact – real or potential on a wide range of stakeholders, and that we should report to these stakeholders on these at the same time that we report to shareholders.

The format of the report is such that we as a company have undertaken to report to stakeholders against the business principles that we have developed and in terms of which we have committed to business. The report contents therefore follows our mission, values and business principles:
We have identified eight primary case studies that have been included in the printed version of the report to society as they represent significant issues or challenges to the company as a whole. These case studies have been included in the assurance remit of PWC.
