Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights

In May 2007, AngloGold Ashanti was formally admitted as member of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, designed to assist and guide companies on identifying security risk, maintaining the safety and security of their operations, engaging and collaborating with state and private security forces within a framework that ensures respect for human rights.

The Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights was developed in 2000 and involves the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway and the Netherlands; extractive and energy companies; and human rights non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
