Headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, AngloGold Ashanti has a globally diverse, world-class portfolio of operations and projects

AngloGold Ashanti is the third-largest gold mining company in the world, measured by production.

 

As at 1 March 2018, AngloGold Ashanti has 14 mines and 3 projects in ten countries. On 28 February 2018, AngloGold Ashanti completed the sale of its Vaal River assets and put the TauTona mine (including the Savuka section) into orderly closure. The sale included AngloGold Ashanti’s entire interest in Nuclear Fuels Corporation of South Africa Proprietary Limited (“Nufcor”); and in Margaret Water Company.

 

For the year ended 31 December 2017, our portfolio of 17 operations and three projects in ten countries included long-life, relatively low-cost operating assets with differing ore body types, located in key gold-producing regions. These operating assets were supported by greenfields projects and a focused exploration programme.

 

AngloGold Ashanti produced 3.8Moz of gold in 2017, generating $4.36bn in gold income, utilising $830m capital expenditure. AngloGold Ashanti has an attributable Ore Reserve of 49.5Moz of gold and an attributable Mineral Resource of 208.2Moz

  • Ensure financial flexibility: the balance sheet is the foundation of our company and we must ensure it always remains able to meet our core funding needs.
  • Maintain long-term optionality: while we are focused on ensuring the most efficient day-to-day operation of our business we must keep an eye on creating a competitive pipeline of long-term opportunities
